Podophyllum Resin BP/USP 1KG Podophyllum Roots (Podophyllum Resin 5+/­10%) 19.71KG   RA to take consequential action as policy/procedure.             33 428 M/S. PHOENIX COMMODITY EXPORT PVT LTD., KOLKATA 10.09.2009 Status: Clarified HQ File :01/85/162/0038/AM10/  Amendment in the description of SION E­39 from Rice Bran Extraction to De­Oiled Rice Bran   The case was considered by the Committee as per agenda.   Committee observed that in the process of extraction, Rice Bran Oil and De­oiled Rice Bran is produced.  In general trade parlance, De­oiled Rice Bran is also called Rice Bran Extraction.  Committee has taken a similar view in the case of M/s. Ruchi Soya Industries in Meeting No. 10/10 dated 09.07.2009, when it was held that Soyabean Meal or Soyabean Cake or Soyabean Extraction are interchangeable words and are description of same product.   In  view  of  above,  SION  E­39  does  not  require  any  amendment  of  the  description  of  export  product  as  Rice  Bran  Extraction  and  De­oiled  Rice  Bran  are interchangeable words to describe the same product.  Since the issue pertains to DEPB, case may be referred to Policy Division with reference to their file  No. 01/94/180/258/AM10/PC­4(B)  for further necessary action.         429 M/s.  Stanes MJF Teas Ltd, Coimbatore M.No. 19/AM10 Status:

10.09.2009 Clarified HQ File 01/94/180/597/M10/PC­4 Clarification sought by Customs House, Cochin regarding Filter Paper. Reference from PC­4                          Adv Lic No 3210023508 dt. 23.07.2004                                                             Adv Lic No. 3210033031 dt. 13.7.2006 The case was considered by the Committee as per agenda.  It was noted that as per Test Report dated 04.03.2009 of Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute, GSM of the paper tested is 17.7g/m2.  As detailed by the said Institute, Grammage of Tea bag paper is generally 14g/m2 to 21g/m2 and the above  sample falls within this range.  In view of this it is absolutely clear that the sample of filter paper used for packing tea in this case is tea bag paper irrespective of the use of terminology on the import/export side of authorization.  There is no requirement of changing description on import/export side and the exports can be counted for E.O. in view of the test report.  With the above remarks, case may be referred back to Policy Division.       ­x­x­x­                     15 410
