Modi, MD appeared before the Committee for personal hearing. He showed sample of the export product and also emphasized that the wastage claimed by them is the minimum actual wastage and the same may be allowed to them. It was explained by the representative of DIPP to Sh Modi that they have been allowed wastage based on the data/details furnished by them and only a recovery of 50 % has been taken on the recoverable copper scrap in line with their all other cases. Sh. Modi was satisfied with the calculations. However, Sh Modi informed that the weight of export product indicated by them is the weight of copper content in the export product and not its total weight after including weight of other indigenous inputs like rings. After discussions with firm’s representative it was decided to amend the export weight as “44.04 MT containing 42.5 MT of Copper” and accordingly to modify the quantity of import item as 46.75 MT inclusive of 10 % wastage inclusive after taking 50% recovery. Sh. Modi also wanted that model numbers of export product may not be indicated in ratified norms. NC did not find justification in this proposal and decided that the firm may furnish complete details of all models exported under this authorization with detailed justification for the proposal.
