The Committee considered the case as per agenda and accepted the report of the Team constituted to visit the saw mills for determination of wastage in processing the imported logs for export of sawn timber. The recommendation of the Committee is given below:- Team noticed that if exporter imports good and cylindrical shape logs the yield is as high as 75%. However, if they import low cost irregular shape logs the yield go down upto 33% and accordingly value addition may go around 10%. Taking into consideration all these aspects and also physical verification and past data available it is recommended that the yield should be 55% (Wastage 45%) with positive value addition (in line with the duty exemption scheme).

PRO version It is seen that SION as per wastage calculated in the report and recommended by Visit Team does not tally. Visit Team may see this factor and give specific recommendation on that issue. The case is deferred for consideration of the case in the next meeting.
