The Committee considered the case as per agenda and deliberated upon the norms mentioned in the existing SION A1189. Based on the additional information furnished by the firm and the subsequent recommendation of Technical Authority, C&PC (Chemicals), vide their U.O. No.14010/61/2012/Ch.II dated 12.07.2012, Committee decided to review the cases and found that it is not practically possible to manufacture 1 Kg. of Sodium Silicate with the existing norms of 0.50 Kg. for Soda Ash, as the Sodium Silicate manufactured by the firm is in solid form, viz., lumps/crystals/soluble glass, by fusion of soda ash light and silica sand at high temperature of 1250 Degree at which temperature, the scope for water/moisture does not arise. Committee, hence, decided that the existing norms of 0.50 Kg., under the SION A-1189 is suitable only for manufacture of Sodium Silicate in liquid form.

Since the Sodium Silicate manufactured by the firm is of solid form, Committee is of the view that the export product (solid form of Sodium Silicate) in the above cases is different from the export product (liquid form of Sodium Silicate) mentioned in the existing SION A1189, and decided to revise and re-fix the norms as under:-
