F.No. 01/80/162/00530 /AM10/DES.I Lic.No. & Date Meeting No.19/10 Date: 11.08.2009 Fixation of wastage norms The committee noted that EEPC has forwarded some suggestions made by M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd. regarding change in the Export Import Policy. The NC has considered the issues pertaining to it and decided to convey the following observations to Policy Division for information and consideration to take a final view: Normal wastage of 5% should be allowed for Capital Goods Industry as per SION C1647. Generally NC allows a minimum of 5% wastage on import of steel plates / sheets. However, in case any applicant asks for 3 % wastage only, NC is allowing the same. In exceptional cases where wastage is low, 3 % wastage only is allowed depending upon the manufacturing process & product. In some cases where quantity of input which is required foe manufacture of export product are reduced , at lease interest @15% should not be charged. The norms are fixed based on the data made available by the exporter. In cases where Norms Committee reduces the quantity applied for, the exporter is at liberty to make a representation within the stipulated time limit.
