PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 123/2020

        The area admeasuring 80,000 sq. mtr of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. located at 

plot no. 1, sector 7, Dronagiri Node, Taluka Uran, Dist. Raigad, Maharashtra was declared as a Customs Notified Area vide Notification No. 02/2000 dated 25.01.2000. Vide notification no. 17/2012 dated 08.11.2012 an additional area of 21401 sq. mtr was also declared as Customs Area. Thus a total area admeasuring 101,401 sq. mtr. of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. was notified as customs area. M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. was appointed as ‘Custodian’ and “Customs Cargo Service Provider” of the notified area vide Notification No 19/2010 dated 15.03.2010 and no. 17/2012 dated 08.11.2012 and vide subsequent notification no. 11/2015 dated 19.03.2015, the CCSP cum Custodian registration was renewed till 14.03.2020.

2.    Now, in exercise of the powers conferred on me under section 45 (1) and 141 (2) of 
   

the Customs Act, 1962, I, Sanjay Mahendru, Commissioner of Customs (General), Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House, Mumbai Zone II, Nhava Sheva hereby renew the
appointment of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. to be the ‘Custodian’ of the Imported goods received at the Container Freight Station of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. until these are cleared for home consumption or are warehoused or are transshipped in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VIII of the Customs Act, 1962. Similarly, M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. will also be the ‘Custodian’ of the Export cargo brought into said Container Freight Station for examination and stuffing till their exportation through Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

Further, in exercise of the powers conferred on me under Regulation 10 of the ‘Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations 2009’, I, Sanjay Mahendru, Commissioner of Customs (General), JNCH, hereby renew the approval of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. as the ‘Customs Cargo Services Provider’ for the said CFS M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. Subject to following conditions:

(i) The Custodian M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. approved as ‘Customs Cargo Services Provider’ for the said CFS shall abide by all the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, the rules of the ‘Handling of Cargo in Customs Areas Regulations, 2009’, and other regulations, notifications, orders issued there under.
(ii) The duration of appointment of M/s. Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd. as ‘Custodian’ and as ‘Customs Cargo Service Provider’ is valid for five (5) years w.e.f. 15.03.2020 subject to review if any, done under the 1st proviso to sub-regulation (2) of Regulation 10 of HCCAR, 2009.
