Re-orientation of DEPB entries for EDI compatibility

TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY (PART – 1, SECTION – 1) GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY   PUBLIC NOTICE NO:   60  (RE­01)/1997­2002 NEW DELHI, THE     7th January, 2002               In exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy 1997­2002, as notified in the Gazette of India extraordinary, Part­II Section 3, Sub section (ii) vide S. O. No: 283 (E) dated 31.03.1997, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendment in Handbook (Vol.I). (RE­01), 1997­2002.   (1)        The following is added at Sl. No: 9 to the General Instruction in  Appendix 28A pertaining to “DEPB Rate List”.   9.         Wherever the letters (a), (b), (c) ­­­­­­­ etc. have been used to denote sub­categories of the DEPB product, these would be replaced by the letters a, b, c,­­­­­­­ and so on. Similarly the numerals 37A and 37B under the Chemicals Product Group pertaining to specific DEPB entries would be replaced by the numerals 37a and 37b respectively.   (2)        In order to make the DEPB descriptions compatible with the EDI systems in place at the offices of the DGFT, the following amendments are carried out in Appendix 28A as per Annexure to this Public Notice.   However this does in no way alter the actual DEPB descriptions, DEPB rates and  the value caps associated therein.   This issues in public interest.                 (N. L. Lakhanpal)  Director General of Foreign Trade   Copy to all concerned, By orders etc.     (A. B. Menon) Deputy Director General of Foreign Trade   (File No: 01/94/180/051/AM02/PCIV)­Pt.   Annexure to Public Notice No:60 dated 07.01.2002 PRODUCT GROUP: ENGINEERING:               (Product Code: 61) S. No Description DEPB rates Value cap (1) (2) (3) (4)
