Reference from Jt. DGFT, CLA, New Delhi NC No.18/AM12 F.No.01/84/162/99/AM12/DES-V Dated 04.08.2011 Clarification on Standard Input Output norms (SION),J-288 –reg. Decision: The Committee considered the case as per agenda alongwith other relevant papers and observed that the SION, J-288 is to be read along with Foot Note No.3 mentioned in the said SION, which is detailed as below:- “LADIES DRESS: The product one piece of garment for the female covering the top of the body and extending to some where from the mid-thigh to feet. It is appropriate to wear without other garments and its lower end encloses both the legs in a single "tube" (rather than two, as trousers do”.

Therefore, Committee observed that ‘Ladies Dress’ is a longish garment and not merely the covering the upper part of the body. Accordingly, it was felt that SION, J-288 quoted in the SION Book is correctly allowed in quantitative term. Therefore, it is for R.A to note that wherever advance authorisation is applied under SION, J-288, the Note No.3 mentioned below the SION should be taken into consideration for ascertaining the quantitative term. In view of the above, Committee decided that there is no need to review SION, J-288. O/o Jt.DGFT, CLA, New Delhi may be informed accordingly.
