The Committee, therefore agreed to send the following views on admissibility of DEPB benefit against export product “Hatch” used in Barges under DEPB Sl.No.530B (product Code 61) is as under: 1. As per the Bill of Materials (BOM) for “Hatch”, it is seen that it is an assembly of 14 components and out of the 14 components, two main components namely, “Cover” and “Coaming” comprises of about 75 % of weight of the complete assembly i.e. “Hatch”. 2. As per the manufacturing process for “Cover” and “Coaming”, stainless steel plates are cut into required shape and then bend in a die in hydraulic press. The manufacturing process involves cutting, bending in a die, welding, grinding and finishing operations. 3. Bending operation of Stainless Steel plates does not appear to be covered under forging as claimed by the firm and, therefore, above two components does not appear to be covered under “Stainless Steel Forgings”. 4. In view of above complete assembly i.e. “Hatch” may not be called an identifiable ready to use machined
