The National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is one of the prestigious civilian recognitions conferred by the Government of India to honour individuals with disabilities for their exceptional achievements, as well as institutions contributing significantly to the empowerment of persons with disabilities. These awards are presented every year on 3rd December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The Guidelines for the National Awards 2025 are available on the website of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (www.depwd.gov.in) and on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (www.awards.gov.in). The applications/nominations are to be submitted online only through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. The nomination window is open till 15.07.2025. Applications received during this period alone will be considered. All stakeholders are requested to ensure wide dissemination of this information within their respective organizations and networks. Efforts may be made to facilitate identiflcation and nomination of individuals and institutions deserving of national recognition for their contribution to the disability sector. A copy of D.O. Further. section 39 of the said Act mandates the Government to promote awareness canrpaigIrs and sensitizatioIr prograrnInes inter alia for advance recognition of the skills, nlerits arid abilities of persons with disabilities and of their corltributiorrs to the work force, labour market and professional fee .
