PUBLIC NOTICE - 27/2017

Subject: Proper numbering of export consignment with Marking/Label/Box No. etc.— reg.

During inspection of goods in the Customs Area, it has been observed that the boxes containing the goods are not having any number viz Marking/Label/Box No. etc. This poses difficulties while inspecting the shipments boxes containing the goods to carry out the inspection/examination orders given by EDI. Therefore, without proper marking of the boxes, the examination of consignment is not possible to be carried out as per the laid down procedure.

2. The exporters/CHAs are therefore required to ensure that the goods/consignments being brought for export must have the non-tamperable and proper identifiable number on each box. If the boxes are not numbered, inspection/examination would be difficult and may lead to delays.

3. Accordingly, it is brought to the notice of the trade to ensure that the boxes numbers are properly mentioned in each consignment before bringing them into the Customs Area.

4. The trade and the CHAs may note the above for necessary compliance. 5. Difficulties, if any may be brought to the notice of the undersigned.
