The Food Safety and Standards ‘Authority of India has been established under the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act,2006 as statutory body for laying down science based standard for articles of food and to regulate manufacture, storage, distribution sale and import of good so as to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, the Food Authority has a mandate of ensuring safety of food items imported in to the country. 2. In terms of provisions contained in Section 25 read with Section 47(5) of FSS Act,2006 and in pursuance the Order issued by’ the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, New Delhi vide F.No.1-1371/FSSAI/ Imports/2015 dated 29.03.2016, Shri Mukesh Chand Meena and Shri Rajesh H.Palkar (Superintendents), Customs House Mundra Commissionerate, are ‘hereby notified as the Authorised Officers for the jurisdiction of Mundra Port for imported food clearance with immediate effect and till further orders.
