Sub: Tolerance level for re-import of diamonds after certification in laboratories abroad- reg. ? V3 G The undersigned is directed tate attention to your DO letter no, 12/44/2011-EP(G&J) dated 02.04.2613 Wherein it has been Proposed to favourably consider the request of GUEPC regarding tolerance limit of allowing reimport of cut & polished diamonds under notification no. 11/2013-Cus dated 01.03.2013.

2. In this connection, the matter has been examined and it is felt that these diamonds are exported only for the purposes of certification/grading (as laid down in Para 44.2.1 & 44.2.2 and notification 9/2012-Cus dated 09.03.2012 as amended) and do not undergo any further Processing at these laboratories which may result in any variation in height or weight. Also, it is in the interest of the trade to keep the variance at minimum in order to obviate any possibility of substitution of the consignment.
