Subject: Extension of re-import of Cut & Polished Diamonds send for certification

Dear Members, It gives us immense pleasure in informing all of you that the CBIC has issued a notification No. 30/2015-20 dated 10/07/2020 making further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No.9/2012-Customs dated 9th March 2012 Based on the representations received from Member exporters, this Council had immediately taken up the matter with the office of DGFT & CBIC and had aggressively & persistently represented at the highest level of both Department of Commerce and Department of Revenue requesting for extension of time limit for re- import of cut & polished diamonds sent abroad for certification /grading purpose due to COVID-19. The issue was escalated and deliberated in every meeting held with the Government officials. Looking into the genuineness of this grave issue and as a result of our sincere and earnest hard work, CBIC has issued the corresponding notification supporting DGFT notification for extension vide Notification No.30/2020 customs dated 10th July 2020 providing extension of three months for re-import falling between the 1st February 2020 and the 31st July, 2020.
