Subject: Amendment in Para 4.44 of the Foreign Trade Policy

Dear Members, It gives us immense pleasure in informing all of you that the DGFT has issued a notification No. 15/2015- 20 dated 25/06/2020 amending para 4.44 of the Foreign Trade Policy for export of cut & polished diamonds with re-import facility at zero duty. Based on the representations received from Member exporters, this Council had immediately taken up the matter with the office of DGFT and had aggressively&persistently represented at the highest level of both Department of Commerce and Department of Revenue requesting for extension of time limit for re-import of cut & polished diamonds sent abroad for certification /grading purpose due to COVID-19. The issue was escalated and deliberated in every meeting held with the Government officials. Looking into the genuineness of this grave issue and as a result of our sincere and earnest hard work, DGFT has issued the Notification No.15/2015-2020 dated 25.06.2020 providing the much-needed relief to the exportersextending the time limit,in view of COVID -19 pandemic,for re-import facility with zero duty from three months to six months for cases where last date for re-import is expiring between Feb 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020. We will be co-ordinating with CBIC for the corresponding Customs Notification supporting the DGFT Notification for extension.
