Formerly part of Varian, the company provides a wide range of products such as X-ray tubes, detectors, cathodes, collimators, ionization chambers, mammography paddles, and imaging software.

In India, the company operates through Varex Imaging Manufacturing India Private Limited, incorporated in June 2022. The Indian arm was set up to manufacture, supply, and export X-ray imaging system components and related accessories. It is establishing three key facilities—Visakhapatnam (X-ray flat panel detectors), Talegaon-Pune (X-ray tube inserts), and Chakan-Pune (X-ray tubes, glass fab, and cathodes). The Chakan unit, currently functioning as a Domestic Tariff Area (DTA), is proposed to be converted into an Export Oriented Unit (EOU) to strengthen exports and enhance global competitiveness. The manual intermingling of goods is not possible due to this 12-foot-high wall, however, possibility of the same by using crane, JCB or any other machinery cannot be ruled out. Accordingly, the applicant has advised to close the entire height to segregate EOU and DTA unit completely.
