Sub: — Creation of “Settlement Commission Cell’ - reg.

Attention is invited of all Importers/ Exporters, trade and CHAs to the provision of Settlement Commission, as envisaged under Chapter XIVA of the Customs Act, 1962 for the settlement of cases pending before the adjudicating authorities.

2. In order to increase awareness and assist in settlement of disputes of cases at Settlement Commission a ‘Settlement Commission Cell’ is hereby created under the Import-II Commissionerate at Mumbai Customs Zone-I.

3. The Deputy/Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Appraising General (Import-II) will be the “Nodal Officer’ for the ‘Settlement Commission Cell’. The sole purpose of the officers posted at the said Cell would be to create awareness among the noticees about the benefits of the said scheme as well as to assist them in sorting out any issues they might face in respect of availing the said scheme.

4. The Importers/ Exporters, trade and CHAs are hereby requested to make good use of the said cell and approach the said cell in case they need any information and assistance with respect to the said scheme of settlement of SCNs through the Settlement Commission.
