Subject: Institutionalising mechanisms for handholding Trade and

inviting Suggestions for policy making-reg. Attention of all the Importers and Exporters is invited towards the ongoing endeavour of CBIC to enhance trade facilitation, create awareness about the facilitation and simplification measures undertaken and provide assistance to trade for smooth clearance of Cargo in International supply chain. It is informed that CBIC desires to have:- a.) Institutional mechanism in place at Zone level for hand-holding and regular interaction with small and medium tax payers and different sectors prominent in the respective Zones. This should be done, with a view to create awareness on laws and procedures and for resolving technical glitches in co- ordination with various sections under Customs Zonal office or with other offices, Directorates etc. Such mechanisms may be implemented by way of issue of suitable instructions at the Zonal level. b.) Suggestions from trade on taxation policy/ procedure received during such interactions to be compiled and further sent to Board for examination, as this would also help in better policy making. Accordingly, It has been decided to hold regular meetings with the small and medium taxpayers, on first Wednesday at 11:30 Hrs, in the preceding month. All Importer/Exporters associations, trade bodies like FIEO, FICCI and association of Importers of different commodities like Liquid Bulk Cargo, metal, Engineering goods and Machines etc.
