This is for information of all taxpaycrs that c-officc, an application devclopcd by the National Informatics Centrc undcr thc Ministry of Elcctronics and Information Technology, Govt of India, to carry out officc work elcctronically. has becn launched in thc officc of Commissioncr of Customs Import-I, Mumbai Zone-I. The application is designed to establish a paperless environment in Government Offices, increase efficiency, transparency, effectiveness, emplovee convcnicncc and accountability and to give bettcr scrviccs to the taxpayers. 2. It is cxpected that adoption of c-office to carry out oftice work will bring in its wake an attitudinal shift and awareness and usher in more etticient, etfective, and transparent inter and intra governmental transactions. The process will bencfit the public in terms of enhanccd transparency, increased accountability, assured data security and integrity and is also expected to be à huge transformation in work culturc and cthics within the department. 3. With launch of e-office, laxpayers are encouraged to uilize electronie means of communication with the Deparuncnt. n this regard, it may be noted that since e-office application requires pdí files, it would be convenien1 if communications/lettcrs sent to the Department by cectronic means are in pdf format, better still if they arc in scarchablc mode, tor laster processing by the Commissioncratc.

Taxpayers arc also encouragcd to mcntion thcir mobilc number and email in their communications to facilitate immediate acknowledgement by mail and SMS through the application. They will receive the Diary Number allotted to their 1scd as rcfcrence by them whilc communicating communications, which can bc with the Department in future. 5 All members of the Regional Advisory Committee, Trade Associations and Chamber of Commerce in the State of Maharashtra are requested to circulate this Public Notice among their constituent members for wide dissemination.
