Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is a statutory University established by the Government of Gujarat through Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003. GNLU is recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). GNLU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU); the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI); and, the International Association of Law Schools (IALS). GNLU offers interdisciplinary legal courses in five faculties namely, BA LLB, BCOM LLB, BSC LLB, BSW LLB, BBA LLB; one post-graduate programme namely, LLM as well as doctoral programmes in law and interdisciplinary fields. GNLU also offers PhD in Economics. This course is offered with an interdisciplinary study with law. GNLU has been ranked 7th best law school in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2023 released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India was established on 1st October, 2016 under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code). It is a key pillar o f the ecosystem responsible for implementation of the Code that consolidates a nd amends the laws relating to reorganization and insolvency resolution of corpor ate perso ns, partners hip fi rms and individu als i n a t ime bo und man ner for maximization of the value of assets of such persons, to promote entrepreneur ship, availability of credit and balance the interests of all the stakeholders. It is a unique regulator: regulates a profession as well as processes. It has regulatory ov ersight over the Insolvency Professionals, Insolvency Professional Agencies, In solvency Prof essional Enti ties and Inf ormation Ut ili ties. I t wr ites and enforc es rules for p rocesses , namely, corporate i nsolvency re solution, corporate li quidation, individual insolvency reso lution and individual bankru ptcy under t he C ode. It h as re cently bee n tasked to promote the deve lopm ent of, an d r egulate, the working a nd p ractices of , insolvency pr ofessionals , insolvency professi onal agencies an d informat ion utilit ies and other ins titutions, i n f urt herance o f t he p urpose s o f th e Cod e. It has also b een des ignated as t he ‘Au tho rity’ unde r the Compan ies (Reg iste red Valuer s and Va luati on R ules), 2017 for regulation and development of the profession of valuers in the country. The GNLU Centre for Corporate and Competition Law was established on 13th October 2012 by Hon'ble Mr Justice K. A.
