Successful conclusion of the Third International Research Conference on Insolvency and
Bankruptcy, organised by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India jointly with ISB,
Hyderabad on 2nd July, 2024 – 3rd July, 2024.
The third International Research Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy was organised by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), jointly with the the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, at the ISB campus at Hyderabad, Telangana on 2nd July, 2024 – 3rd July, 2024. The two-day conference that concluded today was attended by over 200 participants through physical presence.

The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Ramalingam Sudhakar, President NCLT. Mr. Ravi Mital, Chairperson, IBBI delivered the special address during the inaugural session of the Conference. Prof. Sanjay Kallapur, Professor, ISB delivered the welcome address at the start and Prof. Hariom Manchiraju, Professor, ISB delivered the vote of thanks at the end of the inaugural session. Mr. Paul Bannister, Head of Policy, Insolvency Services, UK delivered a keynote address in the session.

The event brought together leading experts from banking, industry, law, research, and academia, both from India and abroad. They convened to discuss a diverse array of current and emerging issues within the field of insolvency and bankruptcy.

- The conference offered a unique opportunity to listen to thought leaders and policy makers in the two panel discussions planned in addition to around 26 research paper presentations. The panel discussion on ‘Investment in Distressed Assets: The Road Ahead’ was moderated by Mr. Pulkit Gupta, Insolvency Professional. The discussants of the panel include Mr. Avinash K. Srivastava, Member (Technical), NCLT; Mr. Sunil Mehta, Chief Executive, Indian Banks Association; Mr. Sandip Garg, Whole time member, IBBI; Mr. P. Santhosh, MD & CEO, NARCL; Mr. Debashish Mukherjee, Executive Director, Canara Bank and Ms. Mansi Dhiman, Director – Strategy and M&A, Vedanta Ltd. The panel discussion on ‘Need for speed: Fast tracking IBC’ was moderated by Mr. Rohit Govil, Partner, PWC. The discussants of the panel discussion were Mr. Jayanti Prasad, Whole Time Member, IBBI; Mr. Sankar Balabhadrapatruni, DMD (SARG), SBI; Mr. Shardul Shroff, Executive Chairman, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. and Mr. Anish Niranjan Nanavaty, Insolvency Professional.

The Conference concluded with the announcement of Best paper award by Prof. Sanjay Kallapur, Professor, ISB and concluding remarks by Mr. Satish Sethi, Executive Director, IBBI. Underlining the importance of research in policy making, Mr. Sethi appreciated the quality of papers presented in the Conference. Mr. Sethi concluded the conference by expressing gratitude to ISB, Hyderabad for collaborating with IBBI for the research conference and commended all the research paper presenters for taking out time and effort in writing and presenting the high- quality papers. He thanked all the speakers and participants for making the conference a grand success.
