Successful conclusion of the Fourth International Research Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy on 29th September, 2025.

  1. The Fourth International Research Conference on Insolvency and Bankruptcy was organised by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), jointly with the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, at the ISB campus at Hyderabad, Telangana on 28th and 29th September 2025. The two-day conference brought together eminent academicians, policymakers, insolvency professionals, and industry experts from India and abroad to deliberate on cutting-edge research and evolving practices in insolvency and bankruptcy.

  2. Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog inaugurated the conference and addressed the gathering as Chief Guest.

  3. Ms. Anita Shah Akella, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, delivered the Special Address.

  4. Dr. Bhushan Kumar Sinha, Whole-time Member, IBBI set the context in his address during the inaugural session.

–– 5. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Madan Pillutla, Dean and a vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Sanjay Kallapur. While Professor Dushyant Vyas, Toronto University delivered the academic keynote address, Mr. P. R. Ramesh, Former Chairperson, Deloitte India delivered the industry keynote address.

  1. To commemorate the occasion, a publication titled “Transforming Insolvency Resolution in India”, which is a compilation of research papers presented during the 3rd International Research Conference held at ISB, Hyderabad in 2024, was released during the inaugural session of the conference.

  2. During the conference, 24 research papers selected through a rigorous review process were presented across thematic sessions. These papers included issues like technological frontiers in insolvency, financial sector policy, cross-border insolvency challenges, economic impacts of IBC, procedural hurdles, governance in corporate distress, creditor rights, etc.

  3. The conference concluded with the announcement of ‘Best Paper’, which was awarded to research paper titled, ‘Impact of Restricting Incumbent Participation on Bankruptcy Outcomes’. Underlining the importance of research in policy making, Mr. Shiv Anant Shanker, Chief General Manager, IBBI, in his concluding remarks appreciated the quality of papers presented in the conference and expressed gratitude to ISB, Hyderabad for collaborating with IBBI for the research conference. Prof. Hariom Manchiraju, ISB thanked all the speakers, participants and members of the organising committee for making the conference a grand success.
