CIRCULAR Sub: Virtual Inspection for APE by Field Offices for renewal of entities- reg. Read:- (1) Circular No. REG/GC/OR/1/2020 dated 23.12.2020 In light of the resurgence of Covid-19 in India, the situation has abruptly changed during the last one month with high number of covid cases being reported in a short period of time by which Governments have responded with various declarations such as state-wide lockdown, closure of institutions, enforcing containment zones and other restrictions intended to contain the spread of the virus. This has made it difficult for field offices to carryout Physical Verification for registration /renewal of entities /units. MPEDA had issued a Circular read as (1) above and instructed field offices to inspect the units physically and grant registration / renew the registration based on satisfactory compliance to regulations. However, several requests from field offices on joining the inspection by Assessment Panel of Experts (APE) through virtual mode-along with EIA for renewal of the registration of entities were received. The requests were examined taking into consideration the present situation and it is hereby instructed to conduct the renewal of entities by virtual mode of inspection for the existing establishment’s upto15t* June 2021.

It is also directed to have a proper virtual examination of the establishment premises; implementation of HACCP based seafood safety management system & covid-19 protocols, related document verification and follows the inspection format prescribed for APE visit to record the observations and findings.
