DEPARTMENT OF FOOD AND CIVIL SUPPLIES Role of Department of Food and Civil Supplies in conservation of Eco-Sensitive Zone has been mentioned in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 18th December, 2012 related to eco-sensitive zone. Part II-Sec 3(ii) of the notification says in Clause 3 (a) (vi) that within eco-sensitive zone commercial use of firewood shall be prohibited. In this regard departmental efforts consist of emphasise on encouraging and providing LPG and kerosene as alternative to fuelwood to the families residing in eco-sensitive zone and also to create awareness among people about the ecological balance.  There are 88 villages falling within eco-sensitive zone. Total number of schematic ration cards in Bhatwari Block which falls in eco-sensitive zone are as follows:  APL

Note: 7596 families are to be provided with new LPG connection including DBC @ Rs. 6355/- connection of total estimate cost Rs. 4,82,72,580.00  Status of Domestic Gas and kerosene with transportation cost in eco-sensitive zone is presented below:

 Requirement and allotment of kerosene in eco-sensitive zone:  To the families having single LPG connation 3 Ltr. is allotted per ration card  Families having single gas connection are 12594 and require 12594 x 3 = 37782 Ltr.  Families totally dependent on kerosene i.e., without LPG connection, 7 Ltr. is allotted per ration card  Families not having LPG and totally dependent on kerosene are 7596 and require
7596 x 7 = 53172 Ltr.

Conclusion:
The department of food and civil supplies is working at its extreme to conserve eco-sensitive zone by providing alternate fuel inspite of felling trees for firewood .
