OFFICE MEMORANDUM

The undersigned is directed to convey that Section 38 (H) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 deals with the recognition of zoos in India. As per sub section (7) of the same

“An appeal from an order refusing to recognise a zoo under sub-section (5) or an order suspending or cancelling recognition under sub-section (6) shall lie to the Central Government.”

With the approval of the competent authority, it has been decided that Secretary (EF &CC) will consider and dispose of the appeals on the order of the Central Zoo Authority under this section, in the Central Government.

The cases disposed of by the Secretary (EF&CC) under this section previously are valid accordingly.
