OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Strengthening of Cyber Security by protection of USB devices in the in Ministry - Regarding.

As you all are aware that the Cyber security threats are increasing day by day both in hardware and software. The MHA performed Security Audit of the Networking Equipment and End point devices in the Ministry. After the Security Audit, they issued the advisories / recommendations to the Ministry to strengthen the Cyber Security. One of the recommendations was “usage of USB devices should be regulated and only white-listed USB devices should be used”.

2. Accordingly, to restrict the usage of USB devices in the Personal Computers all the Officers of the level of section Officer and above are requested to handover one Pen Drive with the name tagged to IT Division for sending the same to NIC for white listing on or before 09-05-2025. After white listing, the Pen Drives will be distributed to the concerned officers.

3. This is issued with the approval of Competent Authority.
