01 Overview of the Corporate Sector

A total number of 29,89,818 companies were registered in the country as on 31st October 2025, of which 66% (19,76,775) companies stand active. There is increase of 0.14% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to September 2025. (Table 1) Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 39% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 61% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Service has highest number of Active companies (26%) followed by Manufacturing (19%), Community, personal and Social Services and Trading (14% each). It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal & Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

As of 31st October 2025, data on active directors across One Person Companies (OPCs), Private Companies, and Public Companies shows that approximately 71% are male and 28% are female, with transgender individuals making up a very small proportion (0.007%). Among company types, Private Companies have the highest share of female directors at 29%, while Public Companies have 20%. In OPCs, female members constitute 27.3% of the total.

Amongst the 37 States/UT, Maharashtra (19%) continues to be the state with highest number of Active Companies, followed by Delhi (13%) and Uttar Pradesh (9%). An increase in the number of Active Companies is witnessed in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as compared to September 2025. Among the Union territories, Jammu & Kashmir showed a rise of 117 number of companies in contrast to September 2025. (Table 4)

03 New Registration in October 2025
New Registration of Companies during October 2025 A total of 15,394 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 1,024.40 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 15,024 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 1,023.65 Crore, 370 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 05) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (26%) followed by Trading (16%), Business Services (15%) and Manufacturing (14%). State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top four states that receive the highest number of new registrations during October 2025 were Maharashtra with 17% which amounts to 2,623 corporates, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 1,684 and Delhi and Rajasthan following closely behind at 8% Number of Companies

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In October 2025, 38,890 Director Identification Numbers were registered. Out of the total number of directors registered in India in October 2025, 68% were male and the remaining 32% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 42% of new directors registered belong to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 31st October 2025, a total number of 74,038 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 957.63 Crore.
During October 2025, a total number of 961 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 7.44 Crore.

05 Limited Liability Partnership

With an increase of new 21,031 active Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter August 2025 to October 2025, a total number of 4,35,571 LLPs were active in the country as of 31st October 2025. (Table 09 & 10)

About 83% of active LLPs (3,62,452 in number) have an obligation of contribution less than or equal to Rs. 5 lakhs, and only about 3% (15,219 in number) of LLPs have the obligation of contribution above Rs.1 crore. (Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 31st October 2025 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 75% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 24% and 1% respectively. 06 Foreign Company

As on 31st October 2025, there were a total of 5,287 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 62% (3,287) were Active. Of the 25 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during August 2025- October 2025, 36% were registered in Maharashtra, 16% were registered in Delhi, 16% were registered in Karnataka, 12% were registered in Gujarat, 8% were registered in Haryana and 4% each in Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 76% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, personal and Social Services’. (Table 12)
