01 Overview of the Corporate Sector

A total number of 29,74,424 companies were registered in the country as on 30th September 2025, of which 66% (19,62,478) companies stand active. There is increase of 0.22% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to August 2025. (Table 1) Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 39% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 61% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Service has highest number of Active companies (26%) followed by Manufacturing (19%), Community, personal and Social Services and Trading (14% each). It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal & Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

As of 30th September 2025, data on active directors across One Person Companies (OPCs), Private Companies, and Public Companies shows that 72% are male and 28% are female, with transgender individuals making up a very small proportion (0.007%). Among company types, Private Companies have the highest share of female directors at 29%, while Public Companies have 20%. In OPCs, female members constitute 27.3% of the total.

• Category ‘Other’ includes the entries that did not disclose the gender

Amongst the 37 States/UT, Maharashtra (19%) continues to be the state with highest number of Active Companies, followed by Delhi (13%) and Uttar Pradesh (9%). An increase in the number of Active Companies is witnessed in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as compared to August 2025. Among the Union territories, Jammu & Kashmir showed a rise of 138 number of companies in contrast to August 2025. (Table 4)

03 New Registration in September 2025
New Registration of Companies during September 2025 A total of 23,113 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 2,452.85 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 22,648 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 2,451.94 Crore, 465 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 05) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (25%) followed by Trading (16%), Business Services (15%) and Manufacturing (15%). State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during September 2025 were Maharashtra with 16% which amounts to 3,763 corporates, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 2,563 and Delhi following closely behind at 9% belonging to 1,972 Number of Companies

companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 1,352.27 crores for the three states. (Table 07)

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In September 2025, 53,217 Director Identification Numbers were registered. Out of the total number of directors registered in India in September 2025, 67% were male and the remaining 33% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 42% of new directors registered belong to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 30th September 2025, a total number of 73,138 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 949.92 Crore.
During September 2025, a total number of 1,477 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 12.26 Crore.
Out of total Active number of One Person companies registered in September 2025, 29% were registered under the head Community, personal & Social Services. (Table 08) Active OPC as on September 2025

Among all States/UT, Maharashtra showed a highest number of registrations of number of new One Person Companies at 242 during September 2025.

05 Limited Liability Partnership

With an increase of new 22,221 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter July 2025 to September 2025, a total number of 4,29,819 LLPs were active in the country as of 30th September 2025. (Table 09 & 10)

About 83% of active LLPs (3,57,381 in number) have an obligation of contribution less than or equal to Rs. 5 lakhs, and only about 4% (15,074 in number) of LLPs have the obligation of contribution above Rs.1 crore. (Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 30th September 2025 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 74% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 24% and 2% respectively. 06 Foreign Company

As on 30th September 2025, there were a total of 5,281 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 62% (3,294) were Active. Of the 25 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during July 2025- September 2025, 32% were registered in Maharashtra, 24% were registered in Delhi, 16% were registered in Karnataka, and approximately 4% each in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 68% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, personal and Social Services’. (Table 12)
