01 Overview of the Corporate Sector

A total number of 29,31,144 companies were registered in the country as on 31st July 2025, of which 66% (19,21,660) companies stand active. There is increase of 0.16% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to June 2025. (Table 1) Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 39% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 61% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Service has highest number of Active companies (26%) followed by Manufacturing (19%), Community, personal and Social Services (14%). It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal & Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

An increase in the number of Active Companies is witnessed in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as compared to June 2025. Among the Union territories, Jammu & Kashmir showed a rise of 132 number of companies in contrast to June 2025. (Table 4)

03 New Registration in July 2025
New Registration of Companies during July 2025 A total of 17,556 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 1,479.86 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 17,262 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 1,479.38 Crore, 294 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 05) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (26%) followed by Trading (17%), Business Services (16%) and Manufacturing (15%). State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during July 2025 were Maharashtra with 17% which amounts to 2,986 corporates, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 1,934 and Delhi following closely behind at 9% belonging to 1,511 companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 947.22 crores for the three states. New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In July 2025, 46,458 Director Identification Numbers were registered, out of the total number of directors registered in India in July 2025, 67% were male and the remaining 33% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 41% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 31st July 2025, a total number of 70,563 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 927.40 Crore.
During July 2025, a total number of 1,146 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 9.23 Crore.
Out of total Active number of One Person companies registered in July 2025, 29% were registered under the head Community, personal & Social Services. (Table 08) Active OPC as on July 2025

Among all States/UT, Maharashtra showed a highest number of registrations of number of new One Person Companies at 181 during July 2025.

05 Limited Liability Partnership

With an increase of new 22,370 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter May 2025 to July 2025, a total number of 4,15,620 LLPs were active in the country as of 31st July 2025. (Table 09 & 10)

About 83% of active LLPs (3,44,949 in number) have an obligation of contribution less than or equal to Rs. 5 lakhs, and only about 4% (14,730 in number) of LLPs have the obligation of contribution above Rs.1 crore. (Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 31st July 2025 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 75% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 23% and 2% respectively. 06 Foreign Company

As on 31st July 2025, there were a total of 5,262 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 62% (3,284) were Active. Of the 21 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during May 2025- July 2025, 29% in Delhi, 19% were registered in Maharashtra, 14% were registered in Karnataka, 10% in Gujarat, and approximately 5% each in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chandigarh, and Andhra Pradesh. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 43% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, personal and Social Services’. (Table 12)
