01 Overviewof the Corporate Sector

A total number of 27,76,023 companies were registered in the country as on 30th November 2024, of which 65% (17,91,628) companies stands active. There is increase of 0.12% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to October 2024. (Table 1)
Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 38% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 62% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Services has been has highest number of Active companies (27%) followed by Manufacturing (20%), Trading and Community, Personal and Social Services (13%). It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal and Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

An increase in the number of Active Companies is witnessed in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as compared to October 2024. Among the Union territories, Jammu and Kashmir showed a rise of 84 number of companies in contrast to October 2024. (Table 4)

03 New Registration in November 2024 New Registration of Companies A total of 12,606 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 529.40 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 12,450 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 529.11 Crore, 156 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 5) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (26%) followed by Trading (17%) and Business Services (16%). (Table 6)

State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during November 2024 were Maharashtra with 17% which amounts to 2,098 corporate, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 1,405 and Delhi closely behind at 9% belonging to 1,113 companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 182.19 crores. (Table 7)

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In November 2024, 31,696 Director Identification Numbers were registered, out of the total number of directors registered in India in November 2024, 68% were male and the remaining 32% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 42% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 30th November 2024, a total number of 62,197 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 827.19 Crore.
During November 2024, a total number of 821 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 6.18 Crore. Out of total Active number of One Person companies registered in November 2024 31% were registered under the head Community, personal and Social Services. 05 Limited Liability Partnership With an increase of new 13,518 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter September 2024 to November 2024, a total number of 3,64,071 LLPs were active in the country as of 30th November 2024. (Table 9 & 10)

(Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 30th November 2024 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 74.46% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 23.73% and 1.79% respectively. (Table 11)

06 Foreign Company

As on 30th November 2024, there were a total of 5,205 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 63% (3,277) were Active. Of the 13 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during September2024-November2024, 38.46% were established in Delhi, 23.08% in Maharashtra and 15.38% in Kerala. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 61.54% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, Personal and social services’, 23.08% as Trading and 7.69% as Finance and Transport, storage and Communications each. (Table 12)
