01 Overviewof the Corporate Sector

A total number of 27,63,420 companies were registered in the country as on 31th October 2024, of which 64% (17,80,128) companies stands active. There is increase of 0.11% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to September 2024. (Table 1) Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 38% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 62% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Services has been has highest number of Active companies (27%) followed by Manufacturing (20%), Trading (13%) and Community, Personal and Social Services (12%).It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal and Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

An increase in the number of Active Companies is witnessed in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi as compared to September 2024.Among the Union territories, Jammu and Kashmir showed a rise of 70 number of companies in contrast to September 2024. (Table 4)

03 New Registration in October 2024 New Registration of Companies A total of 12,203 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 732.51 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 12,071 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 732.46 Crore, 132 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 5) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (26%) followed by Trading (17%) and Business Services (16%). (Table 6)

State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during October 2024 were Maharashtra with 18% which amounts to 2,153 corporates, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 1,331 and Delhi closely behind at 9% belonging to 1,037 and Karnataka with 8 % at 959 companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 364.44 crores. (Table 7)

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In October 2024, 30,783 Director Identification Numbers were registered, out of the total number of directors registered in India in October 2024, 68% were male and the remaining 32% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 42% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 31th October 2024, a total number of 61,470 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 814.75 Crore.
During October 2024, a total number of 818 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 6.69 Crore. Out of total Active number of One Person companies registered in October 2024 31% were registered under the head Community, personal and Social Services. (Table 8) Active OPC as on October 2024

05 Limited Liability Partnership With an increase of new 14,865 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter August 2024 to October 2024, a total number of 3,60,186 LLPs were active in the country as of 31th October 2024. (Table 9 & 10)

(Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 31th October 2024 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 74.43% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 23.75% and 1.80% respectively. (Table 11)

06 Foreign Company

As on 31th October 2024, there were a total of 5,198 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 63% (3,277) were Active. Of the 6 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during August2024-October2024, 50% were established in Maharashtra, 33.33% in Delhi and 16.67% in Gujarat. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 50% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, Personal and social services’, 33.33% as Trading and 16.67% as Finance. (Table 12)
