01 Overviewof the Corporate Sector

A total number of 27,51,240 companies were registered in the country as on 30th September 2024, of which 64% (17,69,233) companies stands active. There is increase of 0.10% in the total proportion of active companies w.r.t registered companies when compared to August 2024. (Table 1)
Private limited companies account for 96% of the total companies with 38% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (4%) but comprise 62% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 2)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Services has been has highest number of Active companies (27%) followed by Manufacturing (20%), Trading (13%) and Community, Personal and Social Services (12%).It is also observed that Service Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector and Agriculture Sector. In the Service Sector, Community, personal and Social Services Sector showed the maximum rise in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

(Table 4)

03 New Registration in September 2024 New Registration of Companies A total of 11,110 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 581.75 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 10,998 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 581.63 Crore, 112 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee. (Table 5) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Community, personal & Social Services (27%) followed by Business Services and Trading (16%) and Manufacturing (14%). (Table 6)

State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during September 2024 were Maharashtra with 17% which amounts to 1,839 corporate, Uttar Pradesh with 11% coming in at 1,230 and Delhi following closely behind at 9% belonging to 1,016 companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 203.90 crores. (Table 7)

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In September 2024, 30,806 Director Identification Numbers were registered, out of the total number of directors registered in India in September 2024, 68% were male and the remaining 32% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 43% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years.

04 One Person Company

As on 30th September 2024, a total number of 60,718 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 806.06 Crore.
During September 2024, a total number of 718 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 6.79 Crore. Out of total Active number of One Person companies registered in September 2024 29% were registered under the head Community, personal and Social Services. (Table 8) Active OPC as on September 2024

05 Limited Liability Partnership With an increase of new 16,300 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter July 2024 to September 2024, a total number of 3,56,290 LLPs were active in the country as of 30th September 2024. (Table 9 & 10)

(Table 10) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 30th September 2024 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 74.42% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 23.76% and 1.81% respectively. (Table 11)

06 Foreign Company

As on 30th September 2024, there were a total of 5,194 foreign companies registered in India. Out of these, 63% (3,275) were Active. Of the 4 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during July2024-September2024, 75% were established in Maharashtra, 25% in Delhi. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 50% of the companies can be classified as 'Community, Personal and social services’ and 50% as Trading. (Table 12)
