01 Overview of the Corporate Sector

A total number of 24,33,523 companies were registered in the country as on 30th November 2022, of which 61% (14,91,437) companies stands active. (Table 1) The data shows that most companies in India are Private Limited companies, that account for 95% of the total companies with 37% of the total Paid-up Capital. In comparison, Public Limited companies are smaller in number (5%) but comprise 63% of the total Paid-up Capital. (Table 3)

Economic Sector-wise classification (NIC-2004) reveals that the Business Services has been the bright spot throughout the year and has highest number of Active companies (30%) followed by Manufacturing (21%), Trading (13%) and Community, Personal and Social Services (9%). It is also observed that Agriculture Sector saw the maximum increase in the total number of Active Companies, followed by Industry Sector whereas Service Sector showed a minor decline as compared to October 2022. In the Service Sector, Community, personal & Social Services Sector showed a slight rise of 0.4% in the number of Active Companies. (Table 3).

Amongst the 37 States/UT, Maharashtra (20%) continues to be the state with highest number of Active Companies, followed by Delhi (15%) and West Bengal (9%). Lakshadweep witnessed the maximum rise of 4% in the number of active companies followed by Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand at 1.3% and 1.13% respectively as compared to October 2022. 03 New Registration in November 2022
New Registration of Companies A total of 12,844 companies were registered with a collective Paid-up Capital of Rs. 625.57 Crore. Out of the total new registrations, 12,763 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Shares with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 625.05 Crore, 81 companies were registered as Companies Limited by Guarantee with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 0.52 Crore. There was an overall increase of 20% in the number of new registrations in November 2022 when compared to October 2022. (Table 5) Economic-activity wise classification of new companies registered reveals that the predominant share of companies is in Business Services (26%) followed by Manufacturing (19%), Community, personal & Social Services (14%) and Trading (12%). The Agriculture sector observed a rise in the number of registrations in contrast to October 2022. (Table 6)

State/UT-Wise Analysis of new registered companies shows that Union Territory, Jammu & Kashmir have started gaining momentum in terms of registration of 97 new companies. The top three states that receive the highest number of new registrations during November 2022 were Maharashtra with 18% which amounts to 2,327 corporates, Uttar Pradesh with 11.4% coming in at 1,460 and Delhi following closely behind at 10.2% belonging to 1,307 companies with a collective paid-up capital of Rs. 174 crore. (Table 7)

New Registration of Director Identification Number (DIN)

In November 2022, 30,160 Director Identification Numbers were registered out of which 98% were in use by Indian nationals and the remaining 2% were in use by Foreign nationals. Additionally, 110 DINs were deactivated. (Table 8)

Out of the total number of directors registered in India in November 2022, 68% were male and the remaining 32% were female. A close analysis on Indian Directors revealed that 44% of new directors registered belongs to age 31-45 years old, of which, 66% were male and 34% female. Furthermore, 7% of the new director registrations were older than 60 years. Maharashtra witnessed the highest, i.e., 16% of the total registrations of Directors. North-Eastern states had 420 director registrations.

04 One Person Company

As per the recent data, opportunities given to small companies and entrepreneurs by the Government of India has proven to be beneficial for them. Till 30th November 2022, a total number of 43,778 One Person Companies were active with a collective Paid up capital of Rs. 598 Crore. (Table 10) Economic Sector-wise classification shows a significant rise of 300% in the registration of One Person Companies in Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector in November 2022 over October 2022.

During November 2022, a total number of 865 One Person Companies were registered with a Paid-Up Capital of Rs. 7.81 Crore. Among all States/UT, the number of new One Person Companies approximately doubled in Haryana during November 2022 as compared to October 2022. Page 8 of 21

05 Limited Liability Partnership

With an increase of new 9,592 Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) during the quarter September 2022 to November 2022, a total number of 2,61,557 LLPs were active in the country as of 30th November 2022. (Table 11 & 12)

(Table 12) Broader economic sector-wise classification of active LLPs as on 30th November 2022 reveals that the Service sector continues to account for maximum registrations with 74% LLPs, followed by Industry and Agriculture sectors accounting for 24% and 2% respectively. 06 Foreign Company

As on 30th November 2022, there were a total of 5087 foreign companies were registered in India. Out of these, 64.7% (3,290) were Active. Of the 14 new overseas business entities that were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs during September 2022-November 2022, 30% were established in Maharashtra, 21% each in Delhi and Karnataka, 14% in Haryana & Karnataka, and 7% each in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. When looking at the economic activity classification, it was revealed that 64% of the companies can be classified as 'Business Services’. (Table 14)

During November 2022, 4 foreign company was registered as Project Office to execute a particular project in India.

07 Miscellaneous

 In November 2022, a total of 11,50,497 forms were filed with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Of which, 5,13,289 MGT-7A forms were filed, followed by 3,34,996 AOC-4, 1,10,872 MGT-7, 53,083 ADT-1 and 37,461 DIR-12. (Table 15)

 During November 2022, a total of 25,676 companies were struck off, of which 24,972 companies’ names were removed from the Register of Companies u/s 248 by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and 704 applications were received from companies to strike off their names from the register.

 MCA facilitates its registered users to login and view/download all the forms filed by the company. 2,93,257 documents were viewed/downloaded by the users in November 2022.

 During November 2022, a total of 12,58,018 Non-STP1 forms were received. Of which, 12,53,515 (99.6%) were accepted and 4,503 (0.4%) were rejected. (Table 16)

 A total of 71,094 Public Companies and 14,20,343 Private Companies were active till 30th November 2022, after taking into account 32 Private Companies which were converted to Public Companies and 25 Public Companies that were converted to Private Companies during November 2022.
