Sub: - Requirement of Veterinary Certificate for Import of Milk and Milk
Products into India – reg.

Attention of all the officers of JNCH is drawn to Board’s Instruction No. 06/2020-Cus dated 20.05.2020 on the subject matter of “Requirement of Veterinary Certificate for Import of Milk and Milk Products into India”.
2. Board has made reference to the letter vide File No. I- 1765/FSSAI/imports/2018 dated 15.05.2020 of Director (Imports), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) (copy enclosed) on the subject ibid. 3. Vide this letter it has been brought to the notice of the Board that compulsory veterinary certificate issued by Competent Authority of exporting country is not being insisted upon by field formations in consignments of dairy products (including edible lactose). 4. It is stated that this requirement has been mandated under the Foods Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulation, 2011 and compliance of the same is to be ensured by field formations. Therefore, all the officers dealing with the import of Milk and Milk Products shall ensure the compliance as stated above.
