Subject:- Condition governing import of onions and Soyabean in split and cracked form.

  Attention is invited to Ministry of Commerce Notification no25(RE-98)/97-02 dated 15.10.98, by which Import of Onions and Soyabean in split and cracked form , apart from other categories of plant materials, had been permitted. Attention is also invited to para 4.12 of Exim Policy ,which lays down that all importers shall also comply with the provisions of any other laws for the time being in force, apart from provisions of FT(D&R)Act,1992 In this connection, it is hereby clarified that import of all plant materials, including Onions and Soyabean in split and cracked form, are subject to quarantine restrictions in accordance with Plants, Fruits and Seeds (Regulation of Import into India) Order,1989 issued under Destructive Insects and Pests Act,1914, notwithstanding the fact that the condition of "quarantine restriction" in respect of import of Onions and Soyabean in split and cracked form, has not been specifically mentioned in Notification No. 25(RE-98)/97- 02 dated 15.10.98.     Yours faithfully,   (N.P.S.
