TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY (PARTI, SECTION1) GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMERCE PUBLIC NOTICE No.55 (RE99) /19972002 NEW DELHI: 16th March, 2000 Attention is invited to Public Notice no. 39 (RE99) dated 16.11.99, Public Notice no. 43 dated 15.12.99, and public notice no. 49 dated 27.1.2000 according to which all IEC holders are required to modify/update the IEC, alongwith PAN Number, issued in their favour on the DGFT website itself. Several representations have been received from the exporters as well as chambers of Commerce and Industry highlighting the problems in obtaining PAN numbers. In exercise of powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 19972002, as notified in the Gazette of India extraordinary, PartII Section 3 – Subsection (ii) vide S.O No. 283(E) dated 31.3.97, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby extends the last date for submission of application in Appendix1A and Appendix 2A for modifying/ updating the IEC upto 28th April, 2000. The application is not required to be accompanied by any other document like photograph, fee etc. even in cases where there is change in the status of the IEC holder. The exemption from penalty laid down under paragraph 15.4(b) of the Handbook of procedure (Vol.1), 199297 shall continue to be applicable to such applicant. From 1.5.2000, the consignments of imports/exports shall be cleared on the basis of the updated information collected on the basis of such application. This issues in public interest.
