Sub: Issue of SMTPs in respect of cargo destined to ICDs by Rail– Reg.

Attention of all the Importers, Exporters, Customs Brokers, CONCOR, Shipping Lines / Shipping Agents and other stake holders is invited to various Public Notices / Facility Notices in regard to issue of SMTPs..

  1. In order to expedite the transfer of cargo destined to ICDs by rail, SMTPs are

being issued without waiting for full discharge of vessel. All officers / concerned staff are required to ensure its strict compliance.

  1. In order to further facilitate this procedure, it has been decided vide Public Notice No 151/2016-17, dated 21.11.2016 that in case of any error in online system, the work of approving IGM Number in the system will be done by Boarding section also in addition to the Import Noting section. Therefore, in such cases, Boarding office will ensure to approve IGM Number in the system so that SMTPs are automated & transmitted to shipping lines/ terminals/ ICD customs without waiting for full discharge of vessel even on weekends and holidays.

  2. Any difficulties experienced in this regard may be brought to the notice of Additional / Joint Commissioner in-charge of Import Noting Section.
